Lao Ban Zhang's pu-erh green tea is called the queen of pu-erh green teas in the Chinese market. Its aroma is extremely strong and its taste is complex and sweetish,
with a strong, long lasting aftertaste.

This tea takes its name from the village where it is produced. Lao Ban Zhang Village is located in the Bu Lang Mountains, Meng Hai County (southwest of Yunnan). The history of tea in this village dates back to 1476. The village is currently home to 117 Bu Lang families and lies at an altitude of 1700-1900 metres above sea level. This is a relatively rare altitude for the tropical southern half of Yunnan. The average annual temperature here is 18.7°C, and the village is shrouded in dense fog for more than half the year. In the tea plantations of Lao Ban Zhang, 78555 tea trees are more than 100 years old, 70866 are more than 200 years old, 37076 are more than 500 years old and 9412 are more than 800 years old. The tea trees grow surrounded by jungle and have never been fertilised or treated with pesticides. The local people look after their tea trees in the old traditional way. For a long time it was a very quiet, isolated village, but since 2000, when Pu-Erh tea became very popular, traders have been flocking to the village to buy the raw material and transport it to their tea factories. As a result, Lao Ban Zhang tea is available on the market in a variety of packages and under a variety of labels. The producer of the Lao Ban Zheng tea we offer is Menghai Zhou Shi Tea Co.ltd.
